Thanks to Nielsen Magic for permission to use the above image.
I have an obsession with quotations. I have been collecting them for as long as I can remember. A good quote can say in a few words a thought that may take me many more to explain. One of my all-time favourite quotations, penned by the American advertising genius William Bernbach, sums up nicely my feelings for this website generally and this page of THANKS specifically. Bernbach wrote...
"An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it."
The purpose of this page is to thank specifically - and humbly - those individuals who have assisted me in various ways with the production of this website. I should point out, though, that the final decsion as to the content included on this site has been all mine, therefore, any and all ommissions, concerns and/or criticisms should be directed at me.
First and foremost I have to send out a HUGE thank you Norm & Lupe Nielsen from Nielsen Magic for having granted me permission to use all the posters that you see on my site.
Norm & Lupe Nielsen
Norm is a legend within the conjuring world. Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Norm took an interest in the art of conjuring at a young age. In 1953 he graduated from the prestigious Chavez School of Magic where he fastidiously practiced and perfected sleights and routines with cigarettes, thimbles, balls, cards and anything that the course prescribed.
Armed with his new found skills and knowledge, and at the suggestion of a Hollywood agent, Norm set out to create a unique act. After a few years he would ultimately create and perfect his legendary and beautiful Musical Magical routine that ended with the lovely and memorable floating violin. This illusion is one of the most memorable effects in the conjuring arts and is a Nielsen trademark. With this act Nielsen has literally travelled the world and performed in such places as London, Helsinki, Istanbul, Tokyo, Caracas, Santiago, Las Vegas, Sydney and Monte Carlo. Quite simply, Norm Nielsen has worked in almost every top nightclub in the world. Following is a video of Norm's famous act.
Apart from his performing career, Norm, along with his wife Lupe, are the owners of Nielsen Magic, which has been in business since 1956. Through this business Norm and Lupe supply hundreds of collectable magic posters, memorabilia and exclusive Nielsen manufactured props.
Next, I would like to thank a couple individuals from the excellent weekly Australian podcast, The Skeptic Zone: Eran Segev and Richard Saunders. If you are not familiar with this podcast I cannot recommend it highly enough. You can subscribe to the podcast through their website or through iTunes.
